Igualada Cemetery Addition

I made more drawdels of the main circulation, helping to develop the continuity between the walls and the circulation. Then I reworked the plan a little more to create three distinct planes that the main walls inhabit. Was instructed to draw an axon to look at the new plan more closely, and to work out bringing everything together.

Using the drawdel studies as a reference, I duplicated them in 1/32" chipboard and then added the wall elements to model the ground surfaces. Some of them were helpful and others showed what not to do and will change to match the feel of the site. I have to work on the main circulation path now, and hopefully have everything up to speed by next class. All of the pieces are coming together slowly. They need more visible unification, but that should be what ties all the fragments in.

Arranged different layouts and one fits well so far, but the orientation of the plan is wrong so I am flipping it so it is north oriented at least and it fits into the same layout. Kind of afraid to actually outline things though. Even though it was supposed to be done last night. I just need to go with it and start...

The site model helped with scale though there is still some debate within the studio as to what the correct scale is. I worked on my drawing assignment over the weekend and the assignment for today is to layout the drawings for final rendering. It's been helpful looking at the drawing project as a series of layers of information.

Then I combined all three drawings into one, several times over.

Finally landing on this one which I've been working with in model form for the study model.

Other studies/site model progress:

A lot of work was done using new medium/methods after instruction to do so in order to give the project more life instead of inhibiting it by only exploring one method, being a rigid method. So many freehand sketches were done and the feel of the project has begun to develop more solidly both in thought and in expression. It was really helpful to explore the project in several mediums at once.

Additionally there has been more progress both with the site study model and drawings so those will follow in the next post.
